I am currently a senior at Iowa State University majoring in Agricultural Communications.Growing up on my family's farrow to finish hog operation inspired my passion for agriculture. In my younger years I was very involved in 4-H and FFA showing hogs and lambs at the county fair, holding various leadership positions, making friends, and enjoying every minute of it.
My passion for agriculture is what eventually lead me to Iowa State University to pursue a career in Agricultural Communications. What I love about my major is the diversity it offers. Over the course of my time in college, I have taken animal science, agronomy, natural resource, public relations, biology, and economic courses. I have also had the opportunity to study agriculture abroad in Australia and Greece which were both eye opening experiences. On campus I am active in the ISU Student Chapter of National Agri-Marketing Association, (NAMA) Agricultural Communicators of Tomorrow, (ACT) the College of Agriculture and Life Science (CALS) Ambassadors and CALS Student Council.
Somehow with my busy schedule and interning at the Iowa Soybean Association I can manage to keep up on school work!
What do I want to do for a career? I wish I had an answer, but I am enjoying the uncertainty and keeping my options open. I do know for a fact that I want to be involved with agriculture and enjoy communicating with producers and consumers. I also know that I hope to someday return to living on a gravel road even if my vehicle is always covered in dust!
